Recover Account with Web App

  1. Open your web browser and navigate to .

  2. For new users, click on the "Recover Wallet" option to begin the recovery process.

If you're logged into your Kontos account but wish to recover another account on this browser, follow these steps to recover it:

Home Avatar → Switch Account → Add Account (bottom button) → Select "I already have an account" to continue

This will take you to the account recovery page. Currently, there are two methods to recover an account: the Guardian Mode and the Security Email Mode. Based on the settings you chose when registering your account, the recovery process will automatically guide you to the appropriate recovery method.

Option 1: Recover with Guardians

Currently, at least two Guardians’ approval is required to recover an account. However, when setting up your account, you can assign up to 10 Guardians and determine your own threshold (minimum of 2). Based on the Guardian threshold you’ve set, Kontos will automatically direct you to the Guardian Recovery page. On this page, you can copy your Public Key and share it with your Guardians.

How Can a Guardian Approve a Recovery Request?

  1. Click on Home Avatar to access the Guardian Page.

  2. Under the Guardians section, select Guard for to view all accounts you’re safeguarding.

  3. Find the specific account, click on it, and input the provided Public Key to approve the recovery request.

For the guarded account, recovery will only proceed after the approval of at least two Guardians (or the threshold you’ve set). Once the required number of Guardians approves, the account can be recovered 5-10 minutes later.

Option 2: Recover with Security Email

Only Gmail is accepted!

Currently, we only accept recovery emails that are sent from Gmail, and the email address must match the one you provided during the account registration process.

Please make sure that the email address you use to send the account recovery email is correct.

There are three ways to recover your account using the Security Email method:

  1. Automatic Recovery via Security Email

  • On the recovery page, enter your linked security email address.

  • Send an email from your linked security email address to Kontos.

  • You will receive an automatic reply from Kontos.

  • Your account will be recovered.

  1. Manual Recovery via Email to Yourself

  • Follow these three steps for manual recovery:

    • Send an email from your secure Gmail address to your own Gmail inbox.

    • Open the email in your inbox, select "View Original" (or a similar option), and copy the original message content.

    • Paste the copied content into the recovery form on the Kontos page and submit it to complete the process.

    If you’re not using the same browser for Gmail and Kontos, you can manually copy the content of your recovery email.

    Paste the content into a new email and send it to Kontos for verification.

Option 3: Password Recovery (Legacy)

For users who only set up password in our previous versions, please note that password recovery has been displaced by Email or Guardian recovery in the latest update! Immediately set Guardians or email as safeguard after recovering your account. Accounts without new safeguards may become inaccessible in future updates!

After entering the account you wish to recover, the system will automatically redirect you to the corresponding recovery page. Please enter your password to recover the account.
